Roundtable Reminder

 

The next regular monthly Scout Leader Roundtable will be held Thursday, August 8th, beginning at 7:00 pm. This Roundtable is for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing Leaders. Please send at least one representative to gather and share information.

 

**There will be a School Night for Scouting Make-Up Session held for those who were unable to attend on July 25th (See below for details)

 

Roundtables are held at Lakeside Christian Church (195 Buttermilk Pike, Lakeside Park, KY  41017)

School Night for Scouting Make-Up Session

 

Did we miss you or a representative from your Pack at the School Night for Scouting Kick-Off on 7/25? If so, you are in luck! Rachael Palmieri (Trailblazer Cub Scout Recruitment Chair) is giving everyone a second opportunity this Thursday and it’s critical to attend this night to ensure your Pack has a successful Fall Recruitment.

 

The vision statement of The Boy Scouts of America is: The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

 

It is our hope that we are providing every eligible youth the opportunity to join Scouting and instill in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. To help you prepare for this important campaign, we are providing a second chance for you to get the training and materials you need!

School Night for Scouting Kickoff – 7pm

Lakeside Christian Church (195 Buttermilk Pike, Lakeside Park, KY).

 

-------------IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND SEND SOMEONE IN YOUR PLACE--------------

 

Why attend:

·         Learn how to conduct a Cub Scout sign up night.

o   You know how? Then come to be a resource for new leaders.

·         Learn how to prepare to receive new Scouts and families into your Pack.

o   We have all the materials and resources you need.

·         Pick up School Night supplies.

o   We have posters, yard signs, book marks, buddy cards, Boys Life, applications, and School night guides. LET’S TRULY CAMPAIGN!

·         Have trouble getting parents involved?

o   Learn how to conduct a parent orientation and onboard new families.

·         Plus, every Pack who has at least 1 representative attend will receive 1 certificate for Free Admission to this year’s Cub-O-Ree

o   This can be fun to give away as a prize for pack events or maybe you can give a Scout that can’t afford it the opportunity to go.

Scout Day @ Cincinnati Reds

 

The Cincinnati Reds and the Dan Beard Council are proud to present the 7th Annual Reds Scout Event at Great American Ball Park.  Join us on September 7th for a Scout pregame parade around the field and get your very own Reds/Scouts Hat! We will have a number of fun exclusive activities for Scouts and their families after the game so get your tickets now! The Reds will be taking on the Las Angeles Dodgers at 1:05pm.  Scouts and their families receive discounted tickets to the game.

Fall Activity Save-the-Dates

 

As Packs, Troops, and Crews begin to plan the calendar for the next program year, there are several opportunities to simply plug in District-sponsored events. Highlighted below are three annual events that are sure to be a hit with your Scouts. Don’t forget to add these dates to your calendar now so you don’t miss out on the fun and exciting activities coming up this fall! 

 

2013 BB Gun & Archery Academy (Registration Open Soon)

 

What:

A four hour shooting extravaganza, including BB Guns, Archery,

Slingshots, and more. There will be two, four hour sessions.

Please register for one.

2013 Fall Cub-O-Ree (Registration Open Soon)

 

What:

The Cub-O-Ree is an overnight camping experience designed to give

both new and existing Cub Scouts an exciting adventure at the start of

the new school year. While at the event, boys will get a taste of what

Cub Scouting offers through camping, shooting sports, games, crafts,

campfires, and spending quality time with their family.

 

When/Where:

September 28 Cincinnati/NKY Airport

Hebron, KY 41048

 

Who:

Everyone! The Cub-O-Ree is an event designed for the whole family.

Cub Scouts, along with Mom, Dad, and siblings are all invited to come

spend the night enjoying the Scouting experience as a family.

2013 Fall Boy Scout Camporee

 

Date: October 18/20, 2013
Deadline for Registering for camporee: Oct 1, 2013
Place: Kentucky Speedway 1 Speedway Drive Sparta, KY 41086
Location of Camping Area: Millionaire's Row on Kentucky Speedway grounds.
Cost: $25.00 ea Camping or Non-Camping. This can be a day only event for Units. (Extra Charge for XXXXL T-Shirt $2.00 ea)
Discounted Fee $20.00 if paid on or before Sept 15, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Or until sold out. Anyone who registers after this date may not get custom T-Shirt due to time it takes to deliver them.

Regular Fee $25.00 if paid on Sept 16th at 12:01 a.m. and later. Time based on time of receipt issued by DoubleKnot at Dan Beard Council. (Time you pay your camporee fee to Council )

Who can attend: Scouts, Venture Crews, Webelos I and II and "Cub Scouts as a day event only". (Due to Ky Speedway's request Camporee is limited to the first 600 registered people) This number will not change as it did for the Spring Camporee it is firm due to security requirements.

What will the scouts get for their fee: Weekend of camping in Millionaire's Row, Special camporee patch, Ribbon for your unit flag, Legends Racing, Unit Pictures will be taken by a profession photographer. Scoutmobile races. Racing oriented fun events. Time to just sit in grandstand and watch the Legend Races. Bused Race Track Tours with guides. Custom Camporee T-shirts, Wide game Friday night with trading cards and Church Services.

HERE and fill out form. NOTE THIS DOES NOT REGISTER YOU FOR CAMPOREE ONLY LETS US KNOW IF THERE IS INTEREST IN THE CAMPOREE. YOU MUST PAY YOUR FEE AT DOUBLEKNOT TO GET OFFICIALLY REGISTERED.

How do I pay for the Camporee? You must pay your camporee fee in person at council or online at Dan Beard Council's DoubleKnot system. (I will have the link to DoubleKnot here when it us up and working. At that time this note will be removed).
