Trailblazer District

"The boyhood home of Daniel Carter Beard" 

Welcome to Scouting in your area. You reside in the Trailblazer District of the Dan Beard Council. 

District Information - The Trailblazer District is one of nine districts in the Dan Beard Council. The district includes the following counties in Northern Kentucky - Boone, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Pendleton and Owen. There are currently 125 units (Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venture Crews and Sea Scout Ships) operating in the district. Annual youth membership is over 3,500 registered participants. We have a volunteer District Committee and Commissioner Staff along with three professionals that give support to the Scouting programs operating within the district. Who was Daniel Carter Beard? - "Uncle Dan" was one of the founders and the first National Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America. He grew up in Covington, Kentucky. His boyhood home, located at 322 E 3rd St, has a statue in front of the house commemorating his contribution to the Boy Scouts of America. The Dan Beard Council and Daniel Carter Beard bridge (crossing the Ohio River on I-471) are named in his honor. 

District Newsletter - Twice a month, the professional staff publishes a district newsletter that supplements the Dan Beard Council's Fireside Chat. Information about upcoming events and important deadlines are included in each issue of the Newsflash. 

District Calendar - The Trailblazer District online calendar will be updated throughout the year as information is confirmed. 

Monthly District Meetings:

Roundtables are help sessions for volunteer leaders and are held on the second Thursday of each month at Lakeside Christian Church at 7 pm. The church is located at 195 Buttermilk Pike in Lakeside Park (between Graeter's Ice Cream and the Post Office).

The District Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Harper Oil at 6:00 pm.

 The Commissioner Staff meets on the second Thursday of each month at Lakeside Christian Church at 6:00 pm (prior to Roundtable).
